The (New) Mike Messier Show and a new short film!

Hey everyone! It has been a very busy summer, but I finally have a chance to sit down and give you some new material and updates!

First off, Haiti: Triumph, Sorrow, and the Struggle of a People is about 98% done. Jonas and I are finishing up the trailer and hopefully we will be able to give you some air times soon Check in with the official site (still under construction) for updates and trailer release.

Second, I just accomplished the 2010 Providence 48 Hour Film Festival with my marvelous team 80 Nights Productions. I can’t post the film till August 22 after the Best of Screening- that is, if we make it onto the nominee list. If not, it shall be up by next week.

And lastly, my dear old friend Mike Messier and I were asked to produce three pilots for a cable television network. We did, and it was passed- haha. But I still had a lot of fun shooting the host segments and editing it, and there’s some funny stuff that will pop up here and there. In the month of June I worked on a feature film, so I released the episodes weekly, and here they are! Enjoy.

This last weekend was a lot of fun- Met some wonderful people and watched their great films. Wrestling with Sanity didn’t win the Regional Short Film Award, but oh well- it was still a blast.

The Haiti documentary I have been editing for Jonas Nosile is about 85% complete- Getting excited to finally finish that project up. We were almost done when the earthquake in January hit (we learned about it ten minutes after Jonas left an editing meeting).

But I have edited another Haiti documentary for Glenn Zienowicz, following the missionary group he was apart of in February. A first cut is finished, but I’m still working on some graphics for it. It will be up soon, though!

Wrestling with Sanity ACCEPTED!

The short film trilogy Wrestling with Sanity (soon to be a feature film of the same name) has been accepted to the SENE Film, Arts, and Music Festival! The film is written and directed by Mike Messier, shot and edited by yours truly, as well as co-produced with Mike over 3 years. We made the shorts as a promotional tool to sell the feature, and it worked- as well as being noticed by numerous festivals, winning two audience choice awards.

Wrestling with Sanity will be shown April 11th at Cable Car Cinema at precisely 12:30 PM

It was requested by SENE to have a trailer for opening night- And here it is! Make sure to check out the festival and dozens of it’s other brilliant artists April 7-11. More information can be found on their website: http://www.senefilm.org/

Dr. Cobb’s Crazy Heart

My English professor from RIC, Thomas Cobb, wrote a novel in the 80s titled Crazy Heart. Last year it was made into a major motion picture. My station did a package on his feature film triumph. I wanted to share it with everyone; I’m so happy for him and all his well-deserved success.

Dr. Cobb also invited myself and other good friends from the Artists in Society Learning Community we were all a part of to the RI premiere. Here we are after the showing January 29 outside the Avon Cinema:

For anyone who knows my mother, she is a hardcore Donny Osmand fan. She worked late at RIC Tuesday and had to DVR the Dancing with the Stars finale. When she came home, the rest of us knew who the winner was. So as always when it comes to her and Donny, I bust on her- and it was too good of an opportunity to miss on camera when the winner was announced.

If you still don’t believe she’s an avid fan, here she is singing with Donny and Marie about nine months ago.

Adventure: King Richard’s Faire

King Richard’s Faire was a pain in the ass, but it happened. Between awful weather and not feeling like filming because of the poop mood the weather put me in, I attempted a new adventure. My mom and her friend Schelly are obsessed with The Osmonds so I always try to rile them up and for some reason my friends, sister, and I were chosen to participate in EVERYTHING. Here you go:
